Activities
- Band — four-year member of Mira Costa's Grammy Award–winning band program: Marching Band (Euphonium, 10–20 hrs/week in fall), Jazz Band (Trombone, 4 hrs/week in spring), the Wind Symphony Honors Course (Euphonium, 5 hrs/week, year-long academic-credit course), and Concert Band (Euphonium, Clarinet as a freshman). Also a Low Brass Mentor to middle-school students (2 hrs/month) and a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society (2 hrs/month).
- Mira Costa High School Band Leadership Council (2020 – 2022) — Chair of Community (2021–2022): planned band-wide events and upheld traditions supporting an inclusive environment, assisting the Band Director with caretaking and improving the 150+ student band and colorguard community. Low Brass Section Leader (2021–2022) for the Grammy Award–winning Marching Band and Colorguard. Director of Community (2020–2021, held as a junior in a role usually held by seniors): during COVID-19 distance learning, organized, marketed, and hosted virtual high-school and district-wide events supporting the band's inclusive environment, including a virtual student-led celebration with pre-produced mini-documentaries, teacher interviews, and skits, attended by 175+ families, and managed the band's social media.
- Mira Costa High School Cybersecurity Club (Jan 2021 – 2022) — active after-school club member, 1 hour a week, learning about the applications of cybersecurity in everyday life.
- National Honor Society, Mira Costa High School Chapter (2020 – 2022) — member; the district-wide Town Hall on diversity and inclusion (see the Volunteer Experience entry) was my NHS project.
